Knud Holscher was born in Rdby, Denmark in 1930. Holscher studied with Erik Christian S?rensen and professor Arne Jacobsen at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture, graduating in 1957. The designer began his career at the office of Arne Jacobsen in 1960. He joined Krohn and Hartvig Rasmussen Architects, later renamed KHRAS in 1966, and worked there until retirement in 1995. The same year Holscher established Knud Holscher Design and has mainly focused on design, since, while continuing his work as an architect. Holscher has worked with an impressive list of international clients, and he has until today achieved 58 international design awards. Of his work, he has said: “Design should be like buttons on a shirt. With character to catch your attention, but no more so than you can use it without thinking about it”. Holscher was professor of architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1968-1988 and professor of design from 1994. Holscher is an Honorary RDI, Royal Designer for Industry since 2004.
