He was born in Milan in 1945, where he graduated in architecture in 1969. From 1971until 1976, he has been editor of the magazine Casabella and, from 1977 until 1980, editor-in-chief of the design magazine Modo, which he directed until 1983. In 1973 he organized the International Architecture Department of the Milan Triennial together with Aldo Rossi. Again in 1973 he organized the first critical exhibition on the Italian Radical Design for the IDZ (Internationale Design Zentrum) of Berlin. In 1979-80 he was responsible for the Design Collection at the Milan Triennial, realizing the exhibitions “Censimento del Design” and “La casa decorata”. As author and designer, he took part to various exhibitions among which: “Assenza Presenza” (Bologna 1978), “Cinquant’anni di architettura italiana” (Milano 1979), “Provokationen” (Düsseldorf 1982), “Dal cucchiaio alla città” (Milano 1983), “Una Generazione Postmoderna” (Genova 1983), “La neomerce” (Milano-Parigi 1985). In 1983 he conceived and organized the exhibition “Le case della Triennale” for the XVII Milan Triennial. During the Triennial of 1989 he organized the Design Department of the exhibition “Il futuro delle metropoli”. His writings and projects have been published on the most important italian and foreign magazines. He designed structures, settings, exhibitions, books, magazines, stage designing, habitats and objects; the latest for various societies, among which: Fontana Arte, Cappellini, Poltronova, Luceplan, Tendentse, Roset Francia, Barovier & Toso, Candle, Schopenhauer. Starting in 1995 he still coordinates the Department of Architecture of the European Design Institute of Milan. He lives and works in Milan.
